Four new staff members will be joining Gray & Pape’s Archaeology Group. Morgan Wampler, RPA joins the firm as an archaeologist. Recently she worked as a temporary employee on many Gray & Pape projects including NEUP and Rankin House. Morgan earned her BA in anthropology from the University of California, Davis, an MA in anthropology from the University of West Florida, and is a Registered Professional Archaeologist. She has more than seven years of archaeological field experience, six years of maritime field experience and three years of conservation, laboratory and collections experience. Additionally, she is a Master SCUBA Diver who is Dry Suit, Full Mask and EPA Scientific Diver certified.
Jennifer Wulffen, has been hired as a full time Archaeologist and comes to the firm from Metcalf Archaeological Consultants in North Dakota where she held the position of Project Director. Jennifer has a BA in music from the Southern Illinois University, and a MA in anthropology from Northern Illinois University. She has more than five years of experience as a field technician and crew chief throughout the United States and also worked on a pedestrian GPS survey of sea shell distributions at the site, Caballete, Norte Chico, Peru.
Kim Smith joins Gray & Pape as a principal investigator in the archaeology department and comes to the firm from AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. where she was a lead project archaeologist. She earned a BSc in anthropology with a concentration in forensic anthropology from Mercyhurst College and an MA in anthropology with a concentration in historic/maritime archaeology from East Carolina University. Kim brings 14 years of experience in archaeology and CRM, including supervising Phase I, II and III projects and has extensive laboratory experience. She served as an Archaeologist and Assistant Conservator on the shipwreck of the Queen Anne’s Revenge and has also done target diving on sites and has worked on a number of shoreline surveys.
Nathan Scholl, RPA joins Gray & Pape as a principal investigator/geoarchaeologist. He also comes to Gray & Pape from AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. where he was a geoarchaeologist and project archaeologist. Nathan has a BA in anthropology from Mercyhurst College and a MA geography/geoarchaeology from Indiana State University and is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA). He has more than 13 years of experience in archaeology and CRM, including Phases I, II and III projects, Historic and Pre-Historic projects, laboratory analysis and geomorphological analysis. He has laboratory experience in artifact conservation, including prehistoric lithic artifacts, and flotation analysis and has trained and supervised field archaeologists and archaeological field school students.
