American Battle Monument Commission Project

Our work with the American Battle Monuments Commission continues!  G&P staff visited the WWI Memorial in Washington, DC where they were given an excellent tour by ABMC employee and General Counsel, Edwin Fountain. The landscape architecture team from Rhodeside & Harwell also joined for the tour. The sculpture will be finished in 2024 and then the WWI Memorial will be dedicated. It is located at 15th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, in what once was called Pershing Park. The park also has the American Expeditionary Forces Memorial located in its southeast corner, which was dedicated in 1981 to honor the soldiers who served in Europe during the war and their commander, General John Pershing. The World War I Memorial, however, now honors all Americans who served, including service members from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, those who served in places other than Europe, and civilians as well.
