Roanoke Rapids and Gaston Hydropower FERC Relicensing Project
Dominion Virginia Power plans to construct a range of recreation facilities on the shores of Lake Gaston and Roanoke Rapids Lake. Gray & Pape completed archaeological and architectural resource identification and assessment studies to meet the requirements of the Roanoke Rapids and Gaston Hydropower Project (FERC Project No. 2009) Historic Properties Management Plan. As stipulated in the plan, Dominion Virginia Power is required to consider the effects any proposed undertaking within the Roanoke Rapids and Gaston Project may have on cultural resources. The goal of the investigations was to identify and document historic properties within the project’s area of potential effect.
