Nashua Manufacturing Company North Store House HABS Documentation
Gray & Pape completed HABS Level III documentation of the 1902 North Store House of the Nashua Manufacturing Company, a structure which is part of the Nashua Manufacturing Company Historic District. The building is an example of an early twentieth-century structure purposely built for storing bulk quantities of raw cotton to be utilized during the textile manufacturing process. The building is an example of typical load-bearing, masonry, timber post-and-beam construction, and displays design and engineering features that are unique to its intended use. These include interior, load-bearing, fireproof partition walls; minimized window sizes; lower than typical floor-to-ceiling heights; and metal fire doors. Photodocumentation, plans, measured drawings, and a site history report all were completed in an effort to mitigate the impacts of proposed waterfront re-development.
